I'm looking for a freeware program that will check a couple POP servers
at regular intervals and notify me with a sound when there is new
email. I currently use Poppy but I'm looking for something that has a
few additional features, namely:

1. Ability to specify a different time interval for checking each
server.

2. Basic filtering (i.e., headers only would be enough).

3. Small footprint, like Poppy (some email notification programs I
have seen take as much memory as a regular email client, which defeats
their purpose).

4. Ability to detect active connection and not attempt to check the
server if there is no connection.

Any suggestions?

I used to use Magic Mail Monitor and IIRC it comply with your
requirements 1,2,3, for req 4 I'm sorry but I'm not sure, if you want
to take a look its homepage is:

Hope this helps
