Email notification on welcome screen

In these groups every one seems to want to get rid of the above feature, but
I'm going to buck the trend.

It's *never* worked on either of my two machines (laptop and desktop) since
I installed XP, and I'd like to know how to activate it - on the desktop
machine, anyway. (Well, *I* think it'd be handy).

I've ticked the box in TweakUIXP.

I've created a key,
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\<myemailaddress>,
and I've put in it (maybe this is wrong) a Dword "MessageCount" with a value
of 1.

But I get nothing on the welcome screen. As so many people want to get rid
of it, I'd have thought it was the default, but it's never worked.

What have I done wrong, and is there anything else I have to do? Maybe
there's a service that has to be running?

TIA Tony.

Hi TaurArian,

Yep, I've read and understood all that, and I've also Googled it, but I
still can't get it to work.

regards Tony.
