Hello

Using Windows 2000 Pro SP4
Outlook 2002 SP2
This is a client installation only.
User re-hooked his Outlook Data File.
Checked all his rules and updated them by adding new words to trap
spam.
User ran all rules on all folders. All messages in the past month
disappeared.
Upon further investigation and checking most of the tips from this
group and other sources on the web, we found that somehow his rules
had changed from the folder it was pointed to back to "Specified"
folder.
When attempting to delete the rule to recreate it. It would show the
folder where the message was to be directed.

The real question is where did all the mail go?
Is the specified folder mid-air?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe they got moved under the Outlook Today folder if the selected
folder when the rules were ran was the Outlook Today folder. You won't
see your e-mails moved there. Change its view. Select the Outlook
Today folder, right-click, select Properties, disable the "Show home
page" option.

Thanks for the tip Vanguard. No they weren't there, but it was a good
guess. I did find them. They were going to a different file. It wasn't
mapped for the account at all but the Rules still sent them there.
I'll have to look deeper as why. But your suggestion helped me look a
little deeper.
thanks
