I'm trying to copy my messages from win98 to winXP. I
copied the msgs. on a USB memory stick and copied them on
my XP computer to:

C:\Documents and Settings\(my name)\Local
Settings\Application Data\Identities\{30DEEAE1-BA1D-443A-
A693-E7EFC5A1B533}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Inbox.dbx

But the files don't show up in the Outlook Express local
folders. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks,
Mackie

Copy the DBX file to an empty Windows folder on your hard drive.
Male sure you include Folders.dbx.
Make sure they are not Read Only.
Use OE's File | Import | Messages.

Frank,
Since i had already copied the files to the location i
listed in my orig. email, i just ran OE import. It found
the files (i had two) OK, but got an error msg. saying
they couldn't be opened because "..they may be in use". I
made sure they were not read only.

Also, what did you mean by "Male sure you include
Folders.dbx" ?

Thank you,
Mackie

Thanks Frank, but it didn't work. i must be doing
something wrong. I went to the site you suggested and
tried their suggestions, but it didn't work. I still get
an error msg. to the effect that i can't open the files
(the ones i want to import) because they may be in use by
some other application.
Thanks for your help. I give up.
Mackie
