email is causing outlook express to hang... haven't opened it ...

hi I have received an email which causes outlook express to hang. I can't
delete it because as soon as the email is highlighted th programme hangs. It
has an attachment.

please tell me how to delete it.

Is your Preview Pane enabled?
If so - disable it and then - right-click on the message and DELETE it.

thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

I have tried to do what you suggest,.... however the file does not
delete.... when i do it the way you suggest however, it does not immediately
hang the system.. but it refuses to delete...

please can you make any other suggestions?

I know the sender and he says he runs antivirus scanning on his incoming and
outgoing emails... I run Norton 2006 ...
