i don't understand, i tested the beta 2 and I never got an invitation to rc1.

I believe that Microsoft are sending out the emails in batches, rather than
all at once. Keep an eye on your inbox over the next few days

I haven't received one either but there is a link in the newsgroup and you
can download RC1 if you like. See the posts below for the URL. Plus, I never
received a CD for Vista Beta 2. Doesn't matter I guess as I was able to
download RC1 and use my S/N.

To be sure on the Microsoft Connect program there are three sets of Product
Keys:
(Not sure of the name - I had one from build 5231)
5270 and up Product Keys
5342 and Up (including RC1) Product Keys
Of course the latter was only recently changed to include RC1, but the key
is the same.

JD....If I understand you corectly, you must have downloaded your beta 2, and
the email you got for it had the key. That key is used with RC1.
If you no longer have the key, i think you are out of luck as it is my
understanding that MS is not sending out keys now, until the CPP program is
opened up in several weeks.
If your beta 2 was installed from MS disks sent in the mail, the key is on
the package, and should work in RC1.

guys relax MS will get there emails out when they do alotof people got in
thsi beta so they are trying to get the public beta people and the priate
beta testers square away so it bea while but I call MS and ask them when I
should call and they said in the end of sept if you didnt geta a email
because they can look you up in there computer. Because they maybe some
people who wont get the email for whatever reasons.

MS stands for microsoft and said they said to call them if you dont geta

Totally confused as I have checked every e-mail account I have and didn't
even get the pre-RC1 e-mail although I did download & install using my beta2
key. I downloaded RC1 on Thursday - installed using the same key again
verified and validated after install. I didn't wait for the DVD as my first
one went missing which is why I had to download via another e-mail I have
which was accepted yet I don't know why I never get any contact. RC1 DVD will
be posted (late like Beta2) but I didn't use this key as I already had beta2
installed. If I don't get the e-mail invite do I have to send details to MS
for the activated install I have. I have registered with my .net passport yet
never hear from Microsoft apart from telling me I can't view the bug reports
- I have an active install yet never see any invites
