I am a complete novice, and just noted that Windows XP
Home on a Sony VAIO computer automatically saves every
image included in email messages in the "My Pictures"
folder, with alpha-numeric "names" assigned. Is there a
way to stop this, as I don't want most of the images.
Any simple help would be appreciated. Thank You.

Not really sure how to stop it myself, but you can always
delete them from My pictures...

Not unless you ask it to save them, it doesn't.

MS MVP - Windows (IE/OE)

Thank You for your response; however, I do nothing
except read the e-mail messages. Subsequently, I find
any images that were contained are in "My Pictures" but I
did not ask it to do anything. Perhaps it has something
to do with the way Windows was set up by the
manufacturer? The PC is a Sony VAIO, and it came with
absolutely no documentation of anything, no CD's, and not
even a description of the pre-loaded software. Since
your response indicates your are an MVP, I guess it just
means I am wrong and this isn't happening?

Others will correct me if I am wrong, but this is not "normal" behaviour
of OE. (Indeed some people would actually like to have this feature
included.) And I in no way meant to imply that because I have been lucky
enough to have been awarded MVP status, I must be right all of the time.
I'll wait until someone comes up with more suggestions. But I can only
suggest that you contact the manufacturer and ask what they may have
installed to do this automatically?
