Email highlight & move problems.

Up until about a week ago, I have been able to highlight a word or sentence
and drag and drop in a new location. Something changed just recently that
prevents me from being able to do that. I'm not sure whether I inadvertently
changed a setting or what caused that process to go away, but it did.

Any ideas?

Not without any configuration information. My guess would be that you
disabled Word as the e-mail editor;
Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Format
