just a quick question, on my work computer using outlook my email is
displayed by sender along the main part of the page not down the left hand
side and I would like to change microsoft mail on my laptop to this layout as
I find it very useful as it showed me how many emails I had from a sender and
displayed how many unread emails I had and stores them without having to
scroll down all the page how do I do this on microsoft mail?

click the tabs at the top of the window for from, too, data, etc..... to get the one you want.

I got an message from microsoft that they was not goting to support
hotmail.com any more. Is that true? An i have been trying to figure out
how to change my e-mail address to microsoft.com and cant get it right.
please help!!

You have a Microsoft e-mail address, you would know sooner than we would.

Hotmail is no longer support in Outlook Express.

Only older Hotmail accounts were grandfathered in to use Outlook Express and
Hotmail.

Hotmail is changing to Windows Live Hotmail.

Windows Live Hotmail and the current Hotmail are not supported in Windows
Vista's Windows Mail.

Your post appears to originate from a Road Runner account in Ohio.
The reason I mention this is twofold:
You should be setting up your Road Runner (rr.com) email address
instead of a Microsoft or Hotmail address. Your Internet Service
Provider (ISP) can help you with that.
Secondly, the time zone on your computer is not set correctly,
which causes your posts to be dated in the future. Please
correct that.

I am new to Windows Vista and I am finding it all a bit frustrating not least
because I am finding it incredibly slow and things that I used to be able to
access easily such as my refresh button and the ability to view web page
source code have been hidden away.

Also having problems with Windows Mail.

1. Firstly, although I am getting email, it is frequently not being
displayed properly. Mail comes into my inbox and I can see the number
increasing but I can't see my mail.

Have tried ensuring that settings show 'show all' even when off line and
this seems to work temporarily but if I click out of the inbox my mail all
disappears again. It seems to be totally erratic and I can't understand why
once emails have been downloaded they don't just stay visible in my inbox.

2. Secondly, I don't seem to be able to create new folders nor can I move
mail into exisiting folders - I get error messages when I try.

Has anyone else had either of these problems and can you tell be how to
resolve them?

I am still trying to arrange the main part of the screen to show the layout
by sender so that I do not have to scroll all the way through to see my
emails. Instead if I use by sender I can quickly see who has sent the email
and if there is any unread. How can I do this?

Maybe I'm not understanding what you want, but can't you
simply click on the 'From' column header?
Also, you can reorder the column arrangement any way you want,
including making 'From' the first column: View > Columns...

Hello Steve

Thank you for your reply - I have disabled my email scanner as you suggested
but I still can't receive my mail and now nothing happens when I do 'send and
receive'.

I use AVG anti virus but I have a 30 day trial of McAfee which came with the
machine, a dell. I will see if I can uninstall it.

Why are Dell providing new machines with McAfee if there is a problem?

Because McAfee pays them to.
