When I attempt to create or reply to an email using
Outlook XP, the template that Outlook "points" to is not
correct.

I have spent hours trying to figure this out. When I
look at "reveal formatting" I try to modify the existing
template (there is not a name shown) and again the
problem is not solved.

I check the "automatic update" and "add to template" and
this does not work.

I have gone into Word & modified the normal.dot & the
email.dot and this does not work.

I have looked online at MS & in the Help pages, & cannot
find an answer.

Thanks for all you can do to help.

"... is not correct?"

What does that mean? Word cannot find the email.dot template file? You
don't like something that has been changed in this template? You don't
like the template and would like to change it? The To, Cc, Bcc, and
Subject pane doesn't appear so you cannot address the message to a
recipient? Just was is "not correct", and what might it be that you
believe is "correct"? "... the problem is not solved." Please
elaborate on what is the problem.

My Office XP has email.dot at:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\1033\EMAIL.DOT

The "Office10" is for Office XP; it is "Office9" for Office 2000.

Thanks Vangaurd for your reply. I am sorry I was not more specific.

This problem happens in html mode with MS Word as my editor.

When I reply or create a new message using "cntrl N" or "alt F, N" the new or reply message format is wrong.

For example, the new message has the font Helvetica & the font color Ivory. I never have used Helvetica or Ivory -- AND, Ivory show up as blank so you cannot eve read the message. I always use font: arial & font color blue in the normal.dot.

Secondly, the message double spaces on the enter key. I never choose double space in normal.doc.

So, the bottom line is: the wrong format of Helvetica & Ivory & double spacing is automatic when I write a new or reply message. I never have chosen these for normal.dot.

I was able to find out what was happening by clicking on "reveal formatting" -- but when I tried to "modify" and "save" my desired font, color, & spacing. It did not "save" -- Always, the message goes back to the "wrong" formats.

I checked the "automatic update" and "add to template" and this does not solve the problem.

I have gone into Word & modified the normal.dot & the email.dot and this does not work to correct the problem.

I have looked online at MS & in the Help pages, & cannot find an answer.

Thanks for your help

( PS I have tried many times to send your this reply - but keep getting a run-time error )
