I've used Outlook for a long time, no problem.
This morning every email I write is defaulting to strikethrough.
I select all, uncheck strikethrough...all looks fine.
When I send it, recipients are receiving emails totally strikethrough-ed.

What do I do? Help...............

Thanks so much for responding.

I checked all the default fonts there and none of them have strikeout...

Close Outlook and search for outcmd.dat and rename it. Then open Outlook
again. The file is likely hidden to instruct your search to go through hidden
files and folders. Let me know if that helps.

Hi Kathleen,

I closed down, searched for outcmd.dat, and found nothing.

Any other thoughts?

Again, I so appreciate your assistance and support...

You do have the file, it's hidden. Did you unhide folders and files first or
tell your search function to look through hidden files and folders?

Thanks, I found it.

However, I renamed it, opened Outlook, and still have the same problem...

I suspect you're using Word for your editor and that your Word's Normal.dot
template has been altered. Delete the file
%AppData%\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dot and try again.

I am using word as editor.

Deleted %normal.dot but it will not allow me to delete normal.dot Closed
all word docs and the program, but still unable to delete.
The problem with the strikeout still persists.

How can I delete this file?

Thanks so much for your assistance!

Andy

Hi Brian,

Finally was able to modify Normal.dot and it cleared up this problem!

Thank you so much for your wise guidance!

I have Word s my email editor, and in my Normal.dot, I use Body Text.
Does Outlook have an equivalent of Normal.dot? Your previous post makes me
think it should use my Normal.dot
When I start emails, they aren't Body Text.
Sometimes in emails, when I paste and don't want formatting, it goes to
Times new Roman, making me think that Outlook thinks I that is behind the
scenes, when I have not deliberately used that font since install.

If you use Word as the editor, yes. It's name depends on the version of
Outlook.

Do you know where it is and what it is called in Outlook 2003?

Look in %AppData%\Microsoft\Templates and see if there's an email.dot
template.

There wasn't, so I copied Normal.dot and called it email.dot.
I put a word in that email.dot, but when I start a new email, it is not
there, so I presume that Outlook is not using email.dot.

I don't know what else to say. I don't use Word for my editor when using
Outlook 2003.
