Well, I've tried quite a few. Sad to say but they're not very good.
I will never complain about my Outlook again as it's the best of the
lot and extremely powerful!
Anywho, here's the list that I've tried so far:
Pegasus - this one had the least features for me and too many
confusing buttons that are non-Windows standard so it never got very
far.
Foxmail - This one is so-so but one of the folders already corrupted.
Annoying habits though.
- It has automatic fields it types in on new msgs that I don't find
helpful (though I'm sure there's probably a way to disable).
- Message display is poor. Font is white until message is
highlighted.
- When clicking on TO box of a sent message, email address does not
pop up.
- couldn't find a way to set up a template like in O2K that will have
an attachment, i.e., my resumé
- worst of all, though, is that it does not list the b.c.c.'s in the
sent message. Granted, in the one I recv, this shouldn't be listed,
but in my copy of the sent msg, it should show this. O2K does that.
- because of corrupt mailbox, I have to ctrl-alt-delete to close
Foxmail
So all in all, Foxmail has been disappointing.
Thunderbird - well, not enough features either. Though, sorry, I
uninstalled it so long ago that I don't remember the issues.
That latest one is the most promising, Calypso. I like how it can
handle multiple accounts easily. The save feature isn't very
comprehensive as once the email is sent, it doesn't keep a saved copy
of the original msg as it was saved. But hope to find a way around
that. It has a "blind copy" feature where if ticked, means that
although you put the email addresses in the TO box, the emails go to
each addressee individually. But the single biggest problem is that I
can recv mail with Calypso just fine, I just can't send. But other
than that, Calypso just might do <g>.
********************
What I guess it boils down to is that I'll have to use one of these
until I can both upgrade my OS to Win2K and then upgrade my office
2000 to 2003 which has Outlook 2003 which does handle multiple
accounts properly.
Cheers!
