Is there an email client that does not need installing that will read html
email's.

Xnews does email ?

It is not an email receiving client, but you can set up an smtp server in
it so you can reply to usenet messages via email from it.

I use Xnews for usenet and Popcorn for email.

Popcorn is the only email client I have found so far which allows
different passwords for the pop server and the smtp server of an email
account. And I need that.

The older, freeware version of Popcorn can handle more than one mail
account, the new versions allow only one account without registering.

For more advanced email use, mailing lists, I recommend Foxmail.

Combined email and news clients:
Fortitude dialog, very good, but it has its problems too, crashes
sometimes, cannot save many messages to text file.
Noworyta, good, text only, very fast, problem - one cannot click on a
link so it opens in browser.

Thunderbird www.mozilla.org handles multiple smtp-servers, multiple
accounts etc etc... and it is free.

It is also a news reader and contains an in build Bayesian spam
filter.

Foxmail!
It has a installation routine, but, after installation,You can move it
in any folder without problems.

You can also use it from a USB drive.

Xnews is abandonware, therefore off-topic.

I wasn't fully awake when I posted this morning. No, it doesn't- it's a
newsreader, not an email client.

Sorry,
Ian.

You weren't the only one still sleepy, you made me look.:)

Hi Roger,

You may want to have a closer look at FoxMail 5.0.800.0; it does have
(in every account setting) the possibility to set POP and SMTP
passwords ("SMTP server needs authorisation" checked, then click on the
activated [Setup] button). Account properties can be accessed by
right-clicking on the name of the account, and selecting "Properties"
from the context menu... go to the "Mail Server" settings.

Great news.
I checked in my already installed Foxmail, 5.0.600 and it seems to have
separate pop and smtp user names possibility too. I had not seen that
before.

I will update Foxmail anyway, now that I know that there is a newer
version available.

Hi Roger,

Good idea! Looking forward to see what your experiences with Foxmail
are... A perfect companion for FoxMail BTW is "FoxTool" by Raphael
Fetzer, also Freeware!

I have actually used Foxmail earlier, and I think it is one of the best
freeware clients there are, maybe even the best one.

I found a bunch of addons, including Foxtool, for Foxmail here:
