I have read thru most of the help offered for this problem but it does not
work. Why can't I delete my deleted items folder? Where is my old OE?

You don't say what didn't help. Did you install this?
Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090
It also works on other folders.

I guess I did not explain enough. I have tried most of the suggestions
offered on this forum. I am running Vista on an HP laptop. I am unable to
delete items from my Deleted Items folder in Windows Mail. I have set
paramaters to delete everything from my deleted items folder everytime I
close Windows Mail; but that doesn't happen. There is nothing stuck in my out
box.

I can go into my deleted items folder and delete 3-4 at a time two or three
times and then it won't delete. I get the standard error message that
everyone else has been getting.

This is frustrating, I have over 300 items in my deleted items folder. I can
say that if I try to pull up a deleted item, there is nothing there, just the
shell.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I tried right clicking on the deleted items folder, I just get the error
message and nothing happens.

I downloaded the 941090 supposed patch and it didn't work.

The best thing to do is ignore them.

If you are not willing to just ignore them, the only way is to delete both
copies of the database (which does not contain the messages, but only
references to them) and let WinMail rebuild it.
First close WinMail, then use Task Manager to make sure there are no
instances of it under applications or processes.
Then click Start | Search | Advanced Search
Check the box to include non-indexed, hidden and system files.
In the Name field type WindowsMail.MSMessageStore and click the Search
button.
It should show you two copies. Delete both of them and re-open WinMail.
WinMail will work in the background and recover all of the messages that are
really there.

Although some people have said they lost all messages doing this, WinMail
should recover them in the Recovered Messages folders.

You don't say whether or not you installed the patch. It works for all
folders. As I said.

I just installed the patch, I think! I'll let you know if it doesn't work.
Thanks so much!
