I have an email in "to be sent " email folder which is blocking me from
sending the rest of my emails.

I cannot delete or move this email. It says: "message could not be sent -
mistake occured"

How do I get rid of it ?

Hello and thank you for your kind answer.

Why am I asked to contact Microsoft to be able to download the patch ?,

The patch hasn't been thoroughly tested, so Microsoft wants to
limit distribution of that patch.

Whenever you update your computer there's an element risk in that
you could introduce new problems therefore when it comes to a new
fix rather than imposing it on all users, many of whom might not even be
experiencing the particular problem, the risk can be minimised and the
support maximised by focusing on specific users.

Also asking for a Hotfix is like entering into a contract whereby you
accept a degree responsibility having been warned that the solution
is still in development.

BTW Vast should read Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Many thanks for this, a drama has been averted

That sounds like a message stuck in outbox.

This utility http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx will clear
the outbox IF you follow all the instructions.

Following that, M$ have a hot fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090

Thirdly... if you are a Norton of McAfee antivirus victim you
are strongly advised to escape current and future vulnerability
uninstalling it entirely and using a free Vista/Windows Mail
alternative such as Vast.

I have a message in my "sent" folder and cannot move it or delete it. Can
you help in simple terms or should I just delete my "microsoft" mail and go
to another mail
program.

Download and install this fix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works
in other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit
version or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. Certain
common antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton
or McAfee, or a recent one from Trend, often cause this problem,
although seldom immediately, so remember where to find the
fix since you may need it again.

Download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders.

The Vista SP1 update includes this hotfix and more, but takes longer
to install.

The hotfix or update may or may not delete the blocked message,
but at least should make it possible for you to delete it.

If you are using certain antivirus programs, this is only a temporary
fix. What if any antivirus programs do you have, and have you ever
had a Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that computer, even
if it was one of the trial versions that often come already installed
on new computers?
