email attachments

This is a new XP user and new computer and When I get an email with attachments they won't open. They are either word doc. or excel . xls files.

Check this:

OE>Tools>Options>Security Tab. Uncheck: "Do not allow attachments........."

Remember to use caution. Any attachment may contain a virus, even if you
know the sender.

Also, do you have MSWord or MSExcel installed on your computer?
