Using IE 6 and Outlook Express. Some of the emails I get have attachments I
have to open in order to read the email. When I use Netscape Communicator
4.79 Messenger the same emails can be read without opening attachments. Do I
have some option checked on Outlook Express that causes this?

No, the problem is your correspondents who use AOL and who forward you
previously forwarded messages from other AOL users. Netscape may be able to
handle these embedded forwards but OE can't.

If you highlight the message's headers or open it, CTRL+F3 will display the
Plain Text contents of the attachments.

The HTML parts of the message can show as an attachment if this box is
checked and maybe that's what you are seeing. If you mean real attachments
from other users PA Bear has already answered that one.
