email attachments

i get this error message when trying to open an attachment from my outlook
express: this file does not have a program associated with it for performing
this action. create an association in the folder options control panel.
can someone please help me with this, i really don't enough computer
experience to understand what this means or how to correct the problem.

It means exactly what it says: you do not have any applications
installed on your computer that are associated with, or are capable of
opening, the specific type of file you received. You'll need to ask the
sender what specific program created the attachment, and then obtain
(either by purchasing or downloading, as appropriate) either the same
application or one that's compatible, and install it.
