i was wondering if anyone knew why some contacts when you
type in their email address outlook automatically
converts it to their "name" whereas others it leaves as
an email address only - is there a setting that can turn
off this conversion - as it takes an additional key
stroke to right click and do properties to find the
actual email address

thanks in advance

tom

No way to answer without knowing your Outlook version. You are asking about
the Display Name which is different in every version.

sorry - i should have added it is outlook 2000

Then you'll also need to post your mail support mode: Internet Mail Only or
Corp/Workgroup.

It depends on which Outlook version and which display you mean. Older
versions showed only the familiar name, newer versions show both the
familiar name and the actual email address.
