Email address corrupted/encrypted?

I use Outlook (Office XP version) for mail. If someone receiving a mail
from me wishes to reply and use the "reply" button on their email client,
they receive a "not delivered" message and I do not receive the response.
Also, in Internet Explorer, if I log onto a website using my email address I
get a message saying "email address is invalid". I have tested my address on
other PCs and all works OK so this problem is restricted to my main PC. It
seems my address is being corrupted or encrypted in some way on the way out.
I've checked for viruses etc but seem to be clean. I can receive emails OK.
My address appears as a row of stars (******************) on the receiving
machine.

Does anyone recognise this problem and/or any solutions recommended?

Are you using an internet security/safety program (or firewall) that is set
to block the transmission of email addresses and other "personal"
information? Such as McAfee Internet Security Suite or Norton Internet
Security? Such programs often have a setting to mask personal information,
like credit card numbers, email addresses, etc., from being transmitted from
the computer they are installed upon.

Jon,

Many thanks ... this seems to have fixed the problem although I'll keep
testing. For info ... during the vacation I investigated the ID Lock facility
in Zone Alarm and entered some key data including my e-mail address. Clearly
the facility works! ... but it is not sensible to block that address.
However, this episode has improved my understanding of how ID Lock works and
I can now put it to better use.
