email address auto-complete issue

Well I've just purchased a new laptop running Vista and i like it! However I
imported my outlook contacts into Vista mail client, everything looks fine
(All the contacts are in windows contacts) however when I compose a new email
and start typing the letters of one of my old contacts ie: "jim" I get no
automatic completion of the name or email address like I used to get in
outlook.

Just to complicate matters if a new contact is added then the automatic
completion of the name/address happens as it should!

Have I made a mistake with the import? Its a real pain having to type the
full email address every time..

Thanks for any help

Derm

It may be it won't do the autocomplete until you type it once regardless of
importing it. Try it with an imported one and type it once and then see if
it remembers it.

It appears that it only works once a email is received from the sender

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure where that information is stored, so I
don't know what you can do about it.

Actually, if you send or receive an e-mail from one of your contacts it will
then auto complete.

I have the same problem-it won't auto complete..only when I have recently
typed it in the address bar. It is really irritating, and especially when you
want to CC people.
Only good thing, I suppose, is that I'm starting to learn e-mail addresses
by heart...Any suggestions, anyone? Pls?

Have you tried it, Gary?

Have I tried what, Windows Live Mail?
Obviously not, since it hasn't been released. However, several
hints have been dropped that the new program uses a different
code base, so it's not likely to have the same bugs as WM.

I think it's worth looking forward to, and waiting another week,
instead of users getting frustrated with battling the various WM
problems.

You can get the latest beta here

Last I looked it was still listed as Windows Live Mail desktop beta.
