I go to MyPictures. I select a picture. I select "Email this file." I get a
popup window that offers me the option of making my pictures smaller. I
select yes. So far, so good. Then I get a popup window that says "No profiles
have been created. To create a profile, use the Mail Icon in the Control
Panel."

What's a profile? Why do I have to create one? I tried doing it. I went to
User Accounts - Pick a Control Panel icon - Mail. I get a window that gives
me a place to add a profile, and tells me that Microsoft Outlook will use
this profile. But I don't use Outlook, I use Outlook Express. So creating a
profile doesn't help me.

What am I doing wrong? Why can't I email a picture? If I create a profile, I
can get an "emaiing" window to pop up that attaches my pictures, gives me a
line to enter an addressee -- but there's no "Send" button. I'm still not
being taken to my actual Outlook Express email account. This is driving me
nuts.

If you search Google Groups for:
"No profiles have been created"
....you may find something useful.

Thanks, but this answers the question, "How do I create a Microsoft Outlook
profile?" But I don't want to create a Microsoft Outlook profile. I use
Outlook Express. I want to know why I can't simply use Windows XP to resize
and email photos in Outlook Express. Why do I keep being forced to an Outlook
account that I don't have?

If you had taken the time to browse all the
messages...you would have found this one:

Also...the following may be useful:

I cannot guarantee it, but the following
method may work:

How do I make OE my default mail client?

Go to...Start / Run...and enter the following:

msimn /reg

Click...OK...

Then open Internet Explorer and go to...
Tools / Internet Options / Programs tab...
and set OE as the default mail (and news)
program.

If that's not your solution...try the following
newsgroup:

For info on Outlook Express 6...

This doesn't quite do it either, because OE is my default for mail. This may
actually have been the problem at the beginning -- why this happened in the
first place -- but I have since reset that default to OE, and it didn't solve
the problem. I think I've gone through all your link without finding a
solution, but I'll check through them once more. And thanks for your
patience. This seems like such a dumb little problem, but I really would like
to be able to email photos without resizing them all by hand.

You tried the following ?

How do I make OE my default mail client?

Go to...Start / Run...and enter the following:

msimn /reg
(there's a space after the n)

Click...OK...

Also, there's a PowerToy image resizer
you can download free:

OK, go to the following link and download
and install: ImageResizer.exe

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures from the menu. You
can select one image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals.
(Tip: *Never* overwrite your originals)
