folks --

I'm taking a shot in the dark here. I bought an old
laptop because of the software installed, its running
2000sp3 and I put in a wireless card. The card works fine,
and I can ping other computers in my local network, but I
can't get out on the internet! I'm guessing that this old
laptop somehow has some software with either "permissions"
etc. that prevents this. It was owned by someone that was
able to get to the internet by dialing in using a Xircom
modum card into their server. So anyone know what I need
to do short of formatting this thing? Thanks! I'm currently connecte
to my local area network (at my office) using a linksys bridge plugge
into the laptop.

Here is what I see when I ipconfig/all -----

Host name (the name of this computer is there)
Primary DNS suffix blank
Mode type broadcast
IP routing enabled yes
WINS Proxy enabled no

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection specific DNS suffix: blank
Description 3Com 3c928 FastIntergrated Fast ethernet
Physical address 00-B0-DO-12-B9-4B
DHCP Enabled Yes
Autoconfig Enabled Yes
Autoconfig IP address 169.254.201.21
Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway blank
DNS Servers blank

Any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated

Hi -

I have replied to your idential post in a couple of other groups - please go
back and see your post in microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services (which
isn't a relevant group for your problem, but oh well)

If you need to post to multiple (relevant!) groups, it's best to do so all
at once in a single message (separate the NG names with commas) so that
everyone can follow the thread. A lot of people subscribe to multiple
groups, and this way you won't be asking anyone to reproduce someone else's
work, and everyone can benefit.

Crossposting = posting once to several newsgroups within a single message.
This is not a Bad Thing (presuming the list of groups posted to is small,
and all the groups are truly relevant to your question)

Multiposting = posting separate, identical posts to several newsgroups. This
is a Bad Thing. :-)
