Hello,

Can anyone comment on the quality, stability etc of the ELITEGROUP
K8T890-A MOB.
I built a system in August and since then have had endless problems.
Disks disappearing, O/S [Win 2K]==> I/O Error or lost completely, have
replaced drives (both system and storage drives) several times from both
MAXTOR and SEAGATE, all drive > 137 Gb, thanks to warranty status still
available, but now I am beginning to wonder if there might not be
another underlying problem. Becoming difficult to believe so many disks,
new ones too could be problematic, even though both the Seagate Disc
Wizard and MAXBLAST returns diagnostic error messages.

Thanks

Adam
BTW: Have considered Rootkit issues also, but both Norton's NAV and
Webroot Spy Sweeper indicated no threats of that nature

What other problems besides the disks mentioned below?

This is more likely due to power supply problems or drives
overheating, maybe cabling but I would've expected that
after moving the drives around this much the cables would
have been a more apparent problem if they were.

This could be power problem, but more likely is motherboard problem.
Thoose HDD that you have sent for replacement most likely will run
without any problem on another system.
You can try to verify, if you have one HDD that is having problem in
you system on another system.

Good Luck

Whether a motherboard problem would depend on whether drives
are actually dead. Motherboards don't mostly work but kill
drives. If there were a severe electrical short it could
damage one, but it couldn't also be running the system in
that state.

It's possible they would run in another system, if so then
it could be the board or cabling, but the manufacturer's
diagnostics are the first step in isolating that.

From the few articles I've seen on this board, It seems to run Linux
very well but some XP problems.

Might do a warranty replacement of the MB while you can.
