How can I get rid of the logon password? I want to be
able to access all programs as soon as pc starts up. My
version of XP (1+ year old) has always required a
password. Going to user accounts and trying to eliminate
any and all passwords has not worked.
Thanks for your help!

An easy way (Which I use) is with Microsoft Powertoys. Download Tweak UI
from Microsoft. Install and go to login. Put in your username and password
and select Auto-login and your done.

Hello,

First of all, I would like to say that I find rifleman's
reply to be short sighted and in poor taste. He has no
idea what your situation is and his comments are rude.
Logging in like that when there is no need to is an
irritating annoyance like having a fly buzz around you
periodically. It just drives you nuts and you want to get
rid of it.

Anyway, I had a similar problem a week or so ago and
couldn't find the solution because my "User Accounts" in
my Control Panel didn't give me any options to fix
things. Another person in this newsgroup suggested
something that helped me and it may help you.

Go to START/RUN and type in "control userpasswords2"
(without the quotes) then press <enter> on your keyboard.
In my XP I got a checkbox option at the top o fthe window
requiring users to logon with a password. I deselected it
and the password problem went away.

Not rude, sarcastic. And i stand by what I said - it 'll save the OP
SECONDS!

And if some "tinkerer" decides to have a poke around in the machine? Could
cause untold damage. MS doesn't set password access as default for nothing.

seconds that she may want

And rifleman (aka; shotgun in his ass),

Well you should know about things like that I suppose
is slowly morphing into Amethyst =
type responses!

No, my principle is KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid. Why play around with
an OS that's had MILLIONS of dollars thrown at it to save a couple of
seconds?

And again, like PXD (Amethyst), you know not what the **** you are talking about, so you give your curt, little unhelpful replies!
