I have a new Notebook with Windows XP Home and during
startup I am asked to click on my name to finish startup.
Same thing when I wake it up from the Sleep mode. For me
this is an unnecessary extra timewaster. How do I
eliminate this step? Help is no help that I can find on
this matter.

Anne,

1: Configure XP to automatically login

Click Start, Run and type "control userpasswords2", and click Ok.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
option, and click Ok.

2: Configure your computer to not prompt you to type a password when you
resume from standby:

Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Power Options.
On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Prompt for password when computer
resumes from standby check box, and then click OK.
