Dan

When using a shortcut on my desktop pointing to a folder
that contains a collection of shortcuts to a set of
related programs, I would like the window to open up
using a Large Icons view and no list of folders on the
left side of the window.

I have set the view to Large Icons, which is remembered
each time I open the window. I close the list of folders
using the 'X' in the upper right of the folders portion
of the window. I set Folder Options to remember each
folder's settings. But every time I open the window, the
list of folders is there.

Anyone know how to shut off the folder list for a given
instance of a window called through a desktop shortcut to
a folder?

When you look in the properties for the folder, what does the target line
for the folder say? If you right click on the shortcut, which command is in
bold letters : Open or Explore?

Properties indicates the target as the folder path, i.e.
C:\Tools
Right clicking on the shortcut opens a menu with Explore
on the top in bold. How does one change that to Open?

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction - I
found 'Folder' under file types and was able to
change 'open' to the default setting which did exactly
what I needed.

You're welcome, Dan. Glad to hear that you have this fixed.
