Thanks -- I looked in all of those. Nothing.
When I right-click, I see OPEN, --- Find -- and then three
extensions for the ace application. then the first section-divider
line. I tried searching in regedit for .ace but nothing happened
there, either.
Question: Why do programs put junk in the right-click menu without
asking?
Question: In the future, is there something I should look for to
prevent a program from doing that? Is it referred to as a "shell
handler" or "shell extension" or what?

It depends on where in the right click menu.
Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\OpenWithList
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

I opened an .ace archive. Now, my right-click button gives me
three options for dealing wth .ace files. I don't want that stuff
in my right-click menu. How do I get it out of there?
