Hello Elaine & Welcome to PCReview! :)

Make sure you have the latest AVG updates, then restart in SAFE mode.
Do a FULL scan of ALL your drives.

After you've done this, please go here - http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Run the online scan.

After this is complete, please reboot, then download http://majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
Run this and post the results up here, then we can see what's eating your system resources and see if you're clean! ;)

Good Luck
Kev

Generically speaking... this Trojan is a Password stealing type of malware... it is spyware basically.

Since its a spyware, you want to use an antispyware app to combat it. ;)

While an antivirus program may detect a Trojan that a spyware contains, it isn't made to cleanup spyware itself, so, there are likely many items that AVG would have missed.

I have seen too many instances where AVG list any infection as a virus and seen too many "infected" PC running AVG with no word from AVG about them ... you don't actually have a single virus on your PC ... not a one.

Dump AVG, go get Avira AntiVir AND SpywareBlaster AND SBS&D AND install MS Windows Defender AND CCleaner ... get them from http://www.spywarepoint.com/downloads/ ... install, update, run.

Failing all that ... go get http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis ... only download this program from this website ... there are, I'm sad to say, imitations to HJT that are not the real McCoy. Post the log here from HJT and we'll take a look for you.

oh, if you do not follow this advice this time ... reformat your PC. ;)

I be thinking there should be a bit more to it than that :)

And when all this stuff is cleared or you've done a fresh installation....

Upgrade to XP Service Pack Two cos it may have stopped you being where you are now.

Not for sure, but it would have helped.
