I am going to be using XPe to create "live" winxp cdroms. I installed
the software, and I have been learning it with some pretty good
success. The only problem is, I only have 1 physical drive and 1
physical partition on this machine. I am using vmware for linux
though. Partition Magic is not an option unfortunatly, as we have not
purchased that yet. Will hd2iso allow me to use a samba partition
mapped as a drive?

Thanks!

You're going to have to run FBA on the FIRST partitiond of the FIRST disk on
the system, so eventually you're going to need a spare disk to deploy to.

I'd recommend finding a spare hard disk somewhere-- anything that has at
least 650 MB on it.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Why has microsoft not implimented a feature that will
write a .iso during the build process? That would make
things infinitly easier. Is that feature in the works? For
people like me who will only being using it for cd images,
it would remove the requirement of having a 2nd
partition/disk.

Guess I have to beg for a copy of Partition Magic ;)

There are some problems with building an ISO image during build time (in
Target Designer) it in that you must deploy your run-time to run FBA first.
Usually, someone would install applications or configure their run-time
post-FBA, and THEN build their ISO image, so creating an ISO image during
the build process is too early.

Which is why the hd2iso tool is provided outside Target Designer.
