EI startup delayed trying to dectect a proxy server

Hi,

When I start up IE I see a message in the bottom left hand corner of the
program that says 'Detecting Proxy Server...' and program does not respond
for about another 17 seconds. Once the first page has loaded... no problem. I
have 3 other computers with the exact same version of IE where the problem
does not occur and program start-up is essentially instantaneous.

There must be a setting in IE that by-passes this process but I can't find
it. So, is there a way to stop EI from trying to detect proxy servers at
startup?

Thanks.

Have a look in internet options..connections tab..lan settings button and
uncheck use a proxy server...

Hey Ricky

Thanks. You pointed me in the right direction. I actually didn't have use a
proxy server checked but was using a configuration script. After switching to
"automatically detecting settings" everything is much quicker. Thanks again
for your quick response.

You're welcome..glad you got it going. :-)
