Ehem... where is this in vista?

Information for last minute. Longhorn is not a Vista.
Longhorn i think is like:
WinXP (like Vista)
Win2003 (like Longhorn).

Do you understand?

P.S
Vista is still in Testing stage, some things may not be actually in RC1 or
RC2 (RTM)!

That video bytes...ehem...bites.

I wouldn't have minded seeing something like this from vista,
I agree it's a lot of eye
candy, but the point is....aiglx + beryl CAN do it...and i'm sure you can
turn off the features you don't like. And if we're going to talk about the
many different versions of vista, why not just develop vista l337 edition
for those geeks who want all the candy?

NOW...if Intel would get off it's high horse and build me a graphics driver
for this GMA900....I WOULD be able to see the new features. W.E. INTEL.
Otherwise I have a new OS that in my opinion is XP with a new skin oh and
yea a service pack to make it more secure.

Don't get me wrong...I can't wait for my copy of vista enterprise to
arrive...I just think MS stopped developing the next best OS that could have
been to meet deadlines and industry pressure. I'm sure ORCA or whatever
code name the next OS will be is going to be "the best OS yet"........yawn.

I just think MS stopped developing the next best OS that could have been to
meet deadlines and industry pressure.

You can say that again....
I just think MS stopped developing the next best OS that could have been to
meet deadlines and industry pressure.

thank you

Wrong!

Longhorn = Vista
Longhorn Server = unamed server release

Just like
Whistler = XP
Whistler Server = Windows 2003

Personalization control panel - you can change your DPI and it will scale
your desktop as shown in this video. The reason they were doing this
specifically on calculator was to show it off - I don't think anyone actually
expected this to be a feature on a per-application basis?

It exists, but not the way you want it to. That demo is for WinFX's WPF
model, showing that controls within vista's WPF model can be scaled without
distortion. Developers have to write this code for you. The calculator
example is just that, an example. There might be an argument string that
will allow it to scale, but I'm not sure of that.

Vista isn't just 'eye candy', its very powerful for developers... hence the
reason why it has taken so long to develop. A great programming model is
needed for great application development.

Um, you do know this exists in Vista right? Its called DPI Scaling...

Didn't you claim to know tons about Vista?
