I am resigned to the knowledge that most likely my files are now as good
as gone but I feel that I have to ask anyways.

I have a situation similar to a recent thread on this newsgroup. That is
to say that I have a folder with some confidential data on it on my
laptop that I had encrypted with EFS. I changed my password 2 days ago
and forgot what I set it to. So I logged in as Administrator and reset
my user account password. Well now I have no access to my EFS encrypted
folder. I also have no clue what my password was before I reset it (talk
about a SECURE password ah?). And to top it all of I don’t have a
Password Recovery Disk.

All that said from what I read – the files are as good as gone. Is there
anything else that I can try to get these files from the land of DOOM or
can I just start the process of typing them back up to what I remember
their content being?

Hi

Unless you are able to remember the password again, the files
are gone...
