hi guys,

is it possible to get usefull information out of the temporary files created
in %temp% while working with EFS-encrypted office files?
Or is it necessary to activate EFS on %temp% to ensure highest security.

regards
andreas

Thanks, Steve!
I've forgotten to mention that this issue deals with terminalserver-users.
I've chosen the wrong discussion group, sorry.
Precise:
W2K3 TS
EFS activated folder contains Office documents.
I have to ensure that temporary files created in %temp% while editing the
Office docs could not be read by so. else.
I have tested this scenario. Open an EFS-encrypted Word doc, in %temp% I'll
find 3 tmp files, one of these is encrypted, two are not. I am not able to
open or copy these 3 files but I am not sure if my security department is
fully satisfied with that information.

What is your advice?

Andreas

Yes. Encrypt the TEMP folder.

Especially when considering Data at Rest (DAR) requirements.
