I have an Epson 5000 with the Fiery LX server connected. Ive been
having problems with stripping for some time. I have cleaned and
checked alignment all fine. When I check the test page from the rip
itself that fine. When a file is going to it from the computer, any of
4 macs I see stripe's in the print. I assume that since the printer
checks out fine with the alignment, it might be software ?

Would re loading the software on the rip correct this? Does any one
know where I might be able to download it? I have version 1.3.

Epson will not ship since its a licensed product, EFI wont answerer me
back. Any ideas out there?

Perhaps, but try a clear server first.

If anyone has a contact at EFI for this, I need to find that software too. I
have a RS-5000 rip that has no hard drive. Putting a drive in and formatting
is easy enough, but there is no system software to load, so I can't do
anything with it. Any help would be welcome.

And as far as the stripes go, have you tried connecting one of your computers
directly to the 5000 and printing that way? That is, if you have a serial
connection on the 5000, or a windows machine for the parallel connection?

I do have a pC, but Epson with there great tech support wont assist me
on how to install drivers on XP. I print a lot of postscript files
would need a software rip anyway.

Isn't it amazing that with such expensive printers they would help.
Instead since its discontinued tough luck. Whats funny is there dot
matrix printers are still current.

Ill never buy an Epson again. For sure.
