I'm in the UK - windows 2000

A few days ago whenever I tried to add effects the movie maker froze, would
not even close or minimize. I have tried disabling filters. Have looked for
the divaxf.ax file in the system folder but do not have it and have renamed
any files ending in ax, any ideas please?

Interesting...how did you get Movie
Maker to run on Windows 2000?

I was told it was windows 2000 but I've just checked the system info which reads XP home edition, version 2002. I'm not very computer savvy.

Ok...that's more like it...

Right click your My Computer icon /
choose Properties...does it say
Service Pack 3?

Might be worth a try to do a system restore
to a time before the issue began.

I clicked on my computer/properties and only a system 2 is mentioned. I also tried all available dates for the system restore and all came back as 'could not be restored'.

I guess by saying "system 2" you mean Service Pack 2?

Sometimes software conflicts (usually virus scanners)
will prevent System Restore from working...the work
around for that is to do the System Restore from Safe
Mode...have a look at the following article:

Still didn't work I'm afraid. Every time I try to restore with any of the available times a message comes up stating one of my external hard drives was turned off so was not included in the system restore monitering.

Sorry...I'm out of ideas...
