Effect on PST of ugrading to Outlook2003

When you install Outlook2k3 as an upgrade over Outlook2k
in a system using PST files, does the delivery PST get
converted to the new format or remain in the old format?
If converted, is it backed up?
 
An existing PST is never automatically converted. If you would prefer to use the new format, you must export your data to a fresh PST and choose the new format.
