how happy i am that i downloaded efax program called "efax messenger
plus". as far as i can see it can only be used for viewing incoming
faxes. i got word started and went to compose an envelope address and
the above efax program catapulted onto the screen. I removed it and
the envelope capabilities seem to have recovered. I now have an icon
on my screen that says "efax messenger". It does not appear as a
program that can be deleted in the add/remove section of the control
panel. once again, is efax a scam?

It is a usefull program if you subscribe to the Efax service. My wife's
business uses it. Clients can send faxes to her 24/7 without an extra
phone line and fax receiving harware. The Monthly fee to receive
unlimited faxes is a lot less than the cost of an extra phone line. I'll
concede that it installs a lot of junk on your system. They want you to
use the outgoing fax service, which is where they seem to make most
of their money, especially sending out bulk faxes. My wife never uses
Efax to send a fax.

The Efax package includes an uninstaller.
Start/All Programs/Efax Messenger Plus/Messenger Tools/Uninstall

Under the Messenger tools is another program "Live Menu Settings"
which can be used to remove the Icons Efax adds to your other programs
if you want to leave it on your system and get rid of them. I used that to
hide all the Iccons and then deleted the Efax "printer" that was intalled
among the system printers.

thank you. it is a scam then.

Why do you say it's a SCAM? Efax offers a service, which can be
useful and cost effective. From my experience it works exactly as
advertised. What were you expecting to get when you downloaded
efax messenger plus?

He was probably expecting FREE
