Hi

I am completley new to this so please bear with me. If I
have a clip of say 20 seconds is it easy to cut out
seconds 3 to 7?

Thank you in anticipation of your help

Simon

Hi there,

Yes !
Drag the film clip to the time line.
Find the small "+ icon to the left of the time line and keep clicking it
until it becomes grayed out.
Place the cursor where the 3 second mark is and then click on the "Cut"
icon....right hand side of screen next to timeline
Place the cursor on the 7 second mark and again click on the "Cut" icon
Then click on the actual film that you want to get rid of and delete it.
The two ends will join together and if you want a nice transition effect
....

Left click the right hand film clip and drag gently to the left. The
transition will automatically be the "FADE" transition but you can replace
that by dragging the desired transition over to the transition point.

Thanks for the quick response but I guess I am missing something here.

I have dragged my film into the timeline and the only + sign I see has the
word video next to it. clicking this causes it to expand and provide etc
info in the time line area such as title and audio.

If I do drag a line say 3 seconds in and choose cut from the edit menu as I
can see no other edit icon I lose the whole lot.

Maybe I am being stupid here!!!

Regards
Simon

Hi there,

The purpose of the "+" sign is to increase the resolution....you can see
smaller increments of time.

OK..

1) Drag your video to the timeline
2) Using the "+" symbol increase the resolution of the time segments (the
time line spreads out more)
3) Select the 3 second position on the time line...you will leave a dark
vertical line at the three second position.
4) At the right hand side of the timeline are two small icons....one is a
camera the other is a piece of film cut in two.
5) Click the icon for the film cut in two.
6) Now place your cursor at the 7 second position and again click the "Cut"
icon
7( On the timeline itself, you will appear to have three segments of video.
Select the middle one and delete it

Hi John

Brilliant works really well. I have tried using Pinnacle Studio as well as
Adobe but find those really hard for what I need which is just family
videos.

Do you have any further tips? I have a DV Camcorder and was looking to save
the films to DVD.

Regards
Simon
