Ok not sure how to do this. (Also thanks all! for the help
on my other questions)

"make all site changes directly on the live server via FP,
then you can publish a copy back to your local
machine as a back up"

Not sure how to do this. I know how to make changes via
live site; but how do I make a copy to my local machine?

Thanks
LisaB

With your live site open, after you have saved
and closed the pages you were editing,
select File > Publish Web and designate
a location on your machine.

Thanks. Ok to get the live site; do I got on the internet;

File Menu | Open Web and enter
http://www.mysitename.com ?

Also on File there is an edit in frontpage option....what
is that used for? (I use to get my live site this way; now
I can't all it does is open the page that I am on).

In browser when I click on the address dropdown I have a
link to webfolders. What site do I open it shows me my
frontpage site and my site with the host name?

I'm find this all confusing.

Hope this makes sense. thanks
Lisa

Just use

File Menu | Open Web and enter
http://www.mysitename.com
then you login info, then click Ok, then click Open

Ok am I doing that here on the internet or in FP on my
computer? I think that's where I'm getting confused on the
2 different ways to edit.

Thanks so much!!!

Your site will be in two different locations: one is on
your local PC (a Disk based web in Front Page terms); the
other "on the internet" (really on the computers of your
Web Service Provider and called Server based web in Front
Page terms).

To edit the disk based web on your PC you use the Front
Page menus to open the web site and work on it.

To edit the server based web, you need to first be logged
onto the internet via your Internet Service Provider (AOL
or whatever). You then use Front Page to open that
version of your web site. To do so, follow the directions
provided in the other responses to this post.

I hope this clears things up for you.

Thanks you are all very helful!

Ok so do I

A) open Front Page to edit via live site? or (I seemed to
have figured out how now)

B) do I go onto the internet; open my site then edit in
Frontpage ?

I've actually done it both ways and it works but with my
new hosting I can't do it method B ??

Am I making sense.

I always open FP, then open the site in FP to edit, when I need to edit the
live site directly.
