I need to edit a song that was copied from a CD. I only
want a small portion of the CD for my Power Point
Presentation. Does it need to be converted to a .WAV and
if so, how do I do that?

You don't need to convert to .wav in order to do this. There are several
utilities which can cut mp3 files- I use MP3DirectCut (freeware.) A link to
MP3DirectCut and a couple of others can be found on this page, courtesy of
