Editing the registry

Problem: I'm trying to install an application that needs to update the environment variables within the registry. I have full admin rights and can make permament changes to the registry on my own, however the error received when installing the software indicates there is an issue with access rights. The install manager is unable to make changes to the registry.
 
First what part of the registry are you trying to edit? Is it HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG? Wwhich ever main registry directory it is you need to give full permission for each. Make sure the box is checked for your USER name POWER USERS. Hope this helps
