EDITING SOUND IN MOVIE MAKER 2.1

Can anyone help? If I try and split/ delete sound form a clip it will split/
delete that section of video also. Is there any way of seperating the 2
other than using an external recording device?

I could really do with help!

And...unlike the Video track.....segments
on the Audio/Music track....can be dragged
into position.
