Allen Furfine

I am using Access in MS Office2000 Pro. I try to rename an
exiting dbase to preserve some features for a new dbase
w/o starting fresh. I have succeeded in establishing a new
Table by editing and renaming the old Table. I have
revised an old Report to refer to the new Table.
But I cannot change another old report (Avery ID stick-on
label) and preserve the new design (changing the
referenced Table from the old (and deleted) Table). It
insists on showing an error message reminding me that the
Table reference is to an old and deleted Table. This
despite my reply to "Do you want to save the changes to
this Report?"
Is there anyway to make this "new" database forget its
heritage to its predecessor, or to forget there is any
other dbase on my machine? Why must this one Report refuse
to take changes, when the other Reports seem quite happy
to refer to the new Table?
TIA -- Allen

There is some corruption in your database, and Name AutoCorrect is the most
likely culprit.

1. Uncheck the boxes under:
Tools | Options | General | Name AutoCorrect.

2. Compact the database:
Tools | Database Utilities | Compact.

Then trying changing the report. If it still does not work, delete the
report, compact the database, and import it again from your old database:
File | Get External | Import
