Hi All you Expert XP Movie Makers!

Is it possible to edit a video clip by inserting a video sequence without
disturbing the audio tract? For instance, I have a clip of action with audio.
I want to insert within this clip another video-only clip of a close-up
action so that the original audio is undisturbed and serves as a voice over
of the close up insertion. Then, when the woleclip is played, there is a
contiuous audio over the new video sequence. I see this technique all the
time on tv. I presumed that the pros use two camera and cut in one or the
other. I want to splice in the new video without disrupting the audio.

Happy Filming!

Drag you clip to the time line and mute its audio (right click->Mute). Drag
the clip again to the timeline but place it in the music track. Now you can
do whatever editing in the video track. The audio remain unaffected. Be
careful to keep the video and audio in sync though.

Thanks Rehan!

I followed your advice and was able to edit the video without ruining the
audio tract. I copied the clip to the storyboard and muted the audio, then I
copied the clip the music line. With that all done, I split the video clip
into two pieces and inserted my closeup shot, then adjusted the over all
video length to match the audio length. the close up is now smoothly inserted
into the original clip with the audio serving as a voice over to the entore
piece.

Since both both video clipd were of 'objects' and not people, this worked
fine. I wonder now what would happen if I try to insert a reaction shot into
a two-shot with dialog? (Note my increased use of vernacular. I bought 'The
Five C's' last night and dug into the book.)
