When editing user input on a form there is an IsDate function. But no
companion IsNumber. If I use the WorksheetFunction.IsNumber it sees the
input from the form as a string, and even when a valid number it says it
isn't. What is a simple way to check that the user entered a valid number?

Check out Data Validation. With that you can specify that entry to any
specific cell has to meet certain criteria of your choice.

This is a user form. Data validation is for worksheet cells. The cell that
the form writes to has Data Validation, but the form writing to it doesn't
trigger the validation test.
