I've split a section of video. In the gap I'd like to insert new
video from the collections pane. From the help section though it seems
this cannot be done...only contiguous video can be edited together.
Is there a way around this?

==========================
I think you are referring to Combining
clips that were either created as the
video was imported or split by the
user who now wishes to undo the split.
It doesn't apply to the issue you are
describing.

So...yes, you can insert the new clip.
Just switch to Timeline view and
Drag/Drop the new file in the split.

You can arrange the clips on the timeline
any way you require by dragging them
left or right.

When you save the file in a movie
format...wmv or.avi...it will be a single
combined file.

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next / Next.
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...
