When I select "edit" for a picture file from the menu displayed by right
clicking on the file in "My Pictures" it opens the file in Paint. Can I
change this association to my image editor? I still want "Open" to open the
file using Irfanview.

Thanks in advance - this is like a magic box - open it the next day and your
problems are solved!

Hi Paul,

Go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Select an image
type (jpg). Click on Advanced then New. Name for Action type in: &Edit.
Under Application used to perform action: Browse to the
application/software. Set it as default. Ok your way out.

I don't seem to get these options. After selecting the .jpg file type the
"Advanced" button disappears. I could change the program it opens with but
not the one that edits it. Any more ideas please?

Hi Paul,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit. Navigate to this key and change the exe here:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Paint.Picture\shell\edit\command
