Editing assigned icons to programs in Win2K (Win98SE easy to change associated icon) ... ?

I'm finding in my new installation of Win2K at home that Win2K no
longer seems to allow us to edit the icon associated with any program
found in the File Types. I was able to change this type of thing very
easily in Win98SE. But when I change a program in the File Types over
to something I want, in the File Types box for Win2K, I lose the
button called Advanced and it changes into a simple Restore button.
The Advanced one in other entries allows me to access the icon and
actions, etc.

I don't know of an app that allows me to edit associations in this
way. ContextEdit allows us to change actions but it doesn't touch the
icon. Association Manager often doesn't list these new associations
for some reason.

Can someone recommend a freeware to do what was so easy in Win98SE re
this?

Thanks! Appreciate any help in advance. :blush:D

to be honest 2k and xp have way bigger problems than this. If youre
worrying about icons I wonder if youre aware of the bigger issues.

I wont ask why you paid for 2k when you already had 98 :) There is far
more software that will run on 98, and it doesnt gobble up your large
new drive with gigabyte log files of all your actions since age 2 -
along with the usual rate of errors in that information.

Ah, I enjoy being on Win98, but your post is just added confirmation. :D
