I have a site which was created using Frontpage 2000. Have now updated to XP
and FP 2003, and imported the site. FP 2003 will not let me edit it in any
way. I get a black circle with a line. I can edit a newly created
site/page, but not the imported one.
What switch did I forget to turn on?

how did you "import" the site into FrontPage 2003?
If you "bring it in right" which usually involves publishing it down to your
machine and simply opening it with FrontPage 2003 you'll have no problems.

If you can explain the steps you've taken so far we can steer you back on
path.

Have tried it by two methods. Using the file/import....chose FP extensions
and imported from the server. Also tried importing from the hard drive.
Both gave the same results, although both can be edited in FP 2000.

Don't import, just open the site in FP2003.

okay.............have solved the problem, it would seem. Somehow, FP2003
picked up some sort of template coding which prohibited editing. This was
code that FP2000 ignored. Don't understand why one ignored while the other
acted. Seems to work, so I'm happy.

Thanks for your time and effort.

FP2003 will work with dynamic web templates, including some produced in
Dreamweaver, and will honour non-editable areas defined in the templates -
hence the "no-entry" symbol.
FP2000 does not recognise these templates, and will ignore the non-editable
regions, treating the whole page as editable.

FP2003 can read Dreamweaver template tags, whereas FP2000/FP2002 can not/
